People need to step in, tell someone

by admin on Jul.29, 2010, under Uncategorized

People need to step in, tell someone that they need help, move them along. However, this is not something that should be looked into on a whim. Depression should be an ongoing condition, not just a day or two of being sad. Look for the symptoms.

Are they sleeping a lot? Do they not enjoy activities that they used to like and do often? If they seem like they are just going through the motions, then it might be a problem. Look for changes to diet, habits or interests. If they used to go out a lot and suddenly stop, that might be a sign that depression is setting in.

The best way to deal with this is to sit your significant other down and talk with them. Tell them exactly what you think is wrong, and how you want them to get help. Do not try to present an ultimatum, but do make sure that you emphasize that you will be supportive.

If patients are seeking the

by admin on Jul.28, 2010, under Uncategorized

If patients are seeking the next best thing to a house call, emailing your doctor could be just that.

Unfortunately, with the growth of phishing, malware, and spyware, accidental sending or forwarding a patient?s personal/private health information (PHI) could result in that identifying information being used in various sorts of fraud.

Protecting a patient’s PHI is a deep-rooted tenet within the medical profession. Laws like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) ensure that medical facilities and clinicians protect their patient?s PHI.

In a 2005 study 70% of Americans are concerned that their PHI could be disclosed as a result of weak data security (4). With each technological advance, both the medical field and patients must be aware of the severity of improper use of PHI. According to the Heath Privacy Project, a patient?s rights information site, one in five patients are victims of improper disclosure (5).

In spite of all these risks, patients continue to utilize email and the internet in order to seek out answers to various personal health questions.

Online resources such as WebMD?s Symptom Checker provides possible answers to patient maladies such as why their left leg is swollen.

Some insurance firms keep temporary freeze on new policies before Ivan.

Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News, September, 2004

By Patrick Danner, The Miami Herald Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Sep. 9–Some insurance companies that stopped writing new homeowner and auto policies in South Florida before Hurricane Frances’ arrival are keeping the freeze in place as they wait to see what happens with Hurricane Ivan.

Generally, insurers halt new business and bar changes to existing policies once a hurricane watch or warning has been issued. But, with Ivan on a track toward Florida, some are showing extra caution.

Caffeine, and its derivatives,

by admin on Jul.28, 2010, under Uncategorized

Caffeine, and its derivatives, are natural tissue decongestants used in a number of cellulite creams. Many prefer the “decaffeinated” versions that use potent herbs like horse chestnut, gotu kola, ivy and seaweeds to achieve the same results. Many ingredients not only assist in the sloughing off of toxins but also in the stimulation of circulation. Not, of course, as much as a good run around the block would do.

Many cellulite creams claim to contain patented transport systems that facilitate the delivery of ingredients through the outer layers and into the actual site of the damage. This, they say– and it makes sense–is a principal reason for the success of their particular product.

How a cellulite cream is applied is also an important factor. Methods of application vary from the quick rub at home to high tech patented processes that use light frequencies along with specially designed rollers and suctions that help to mobilize the tissue and transport the good stuff deep down into the cellulite stricken areas.

Shampoo strips the hair of its

by admin on Jul.28, 2010, under Uncategorized

Shampoo strips the hair of its natural oils and thus gives it a dry, limp appearance. Alternatively, choose the shampoo for the dry, damaged hair.

? Condition your hair: Dry hair can be benefited greatly by the use of conditioners after shampooing. The outer layers of the hair or cuticles peel away the shaft, resulting in split ends. Conditioner glues these cuticles back to the shaft and lubricates them. It also prevents the static electricity, thus preventing its frizzy appearance.

? Avoid heat: The heat appliances like blow-dryers, electric irons and curlers damage the hair. Instead of blow-drying the hair, you can pat dry with a towel. Replace electric curlers with unheated plastic rollers that were used in a bygone era. Straighten the hair by wrapping the slightly damp hair around the cold rollers and leave them on for about ten minutes. To curl the hair or give them a wavy appearance, use sponge rollers overnight or sleep with the moist braids.

? Cover your head: Wearing a hat during the windy day is the safest way to protect the hair from drying out.

And it’s not

by admin on Jul.28, 2010, under Uncategorized

And
it’s not a waste.

It’s actually smart to spend time with your superior. Don’t
rely solely on email or voicemail. Your boss probably
receives too many electronic messages already. And while it
seems like efficient time management to communicate through
email or voicemail, it does little good for your career if
(s)he doesn’t know much about you beyond the role you
perform.

Go out of your way to talk to the boss about your
responsibilities and accomplishments in person. Leave it to
everyone else to fill up the boss’ in-boxes.

John’s Tip #3: A good listener is hard to find. Recognize
that all bosses expect to be heard and then have their
directions followed. So – “Listen, listen, listen. And
remember that you have two ears and one mouth for a good
reason.”

Don’t be one of those misguided types who debates
everything they’re instructed to do. After the first 1 or 2
times, it doesn’t show anyone how smart you are.
