Sep. 9–Some insurance companies that stopped writing new homeowner and auto policies in South Florida before Hurricane Frances’ arrival are keeping the freeze in place as they wait to see what happens with Hurricane Ivan.
Generally, insurers halt new business and bar changes to existing policies once a hurricane watch or warning has been issued. But, with Ivan on a track toward Florida, some are showing extra caution.
